HOW ARE YA, FAL??

Don’t worry, when you finish listening to this week’s podcast, that greeting will make much more sense to you.

This week’s guest brought me some excitement, and some nervousness, heading into our interview, but I think the final product ended up fantastic.

Before we get into that, this week’s “Sports News Read Like Real News” topic deals with Draymond Green and his quick trigger finger (3:30).

Now, it was a pleasure to chat with Mike Babchik, the co-host of the Morning Men on Mad Dog Sports Radio, weekdays from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. I had the opportunity to meet Mike, Evan Cohen and the rest of #FalNation at FalCon2016, a show event in New York City that consisted of a two-hour live show, and copious amounts of adult beverages. One thing led to another, and here we are.

In a way, you could say that this was an exclusive interview with Mike Babchik in that you’ll know everything there is to know about his life by the end of the show. I have to say, this is one of my most favorite interviews that I’ve ever had the chance to do. I hope you enjoy the discussion as much as I did, and thanks to all the FALs who called or texted the show with questions.

We covered a slew of topics, including:

How he got to where he is today at Mad Dog Sports Radio (10:32), how he became the co-host of the Morning Men (16:44), how long it took to develop chemistry with Evan (18:54), how the show was able to grow into what we know it to be today (20:40), if his personality on the air is the same as off the air (submitted question by Donny Vantage at 23:30), how he was able to develop his confidence on-air (24:39), what a typical work day is like for Mike Babchik, both in and out of the studio (26:10), what his favorite Bab Bites topic is (30:21), how Fal Nation came to be and what it means to have such a close radio family of listeners (32:00), (when Babchik’s daughter quickly made her podcast debut at 33:38), what his favorite Chris Russo rant is, done with his best Mad Dog impression (34:54), the impact Chris Russo has on the show (36:45), who the most famous person is in his phone (37:32), when his most embarrassing moment on-air has been (submitted question by Caitlin Pereira at 39:24), what’s his biggest regret (submitted by Lisa Williams at 41:09), what his favorite brand of cigar is (submitted by Tony from Wyoming at 41:27), has he ever considered being the main host of a show in the future (submitted by Tony Mitchell at 43:07), what’s the most trouble he’s ever gotten himself into (submitted by Lisa Williams at 44:24), if he thinks his wife secretly listens to the show (submitted by Queen Fal Debby at 46:08), who got him his big break on SiriusXm (submitted by Bill Zimmerman at 47:09), if he believed Darryl Strawberry really had sex during a game (submitted by Eddie Ocasio at 49:35), who hates him the most on the Mad Dog Sports Radio staff (submitted by Jared Moore at 51:07), what he learned doing this podcast (53:45) and how the Morning Men got their name (54:40).
